Cyberhomes and Palmer+Partners would like to invite you to our ‘Build Professionals’ Open Day. This includes three RIBA- and BIID-approved CPD presentations plus the opportunity to Experience the Ultimate Private Cinema Room and Smart Home Technology.
On Thursday 13th August, Cyberhomes and Palmer+Partners Architects, along with our partners at Lamborghini Pangbourne, Uneekor golf simulators, AXSIM racing simulators and Technogym are joining forces for an interactive open day including the opportunity to attend our CPD presentations (see below for details) at Station Yard in Thame.
This is a chance to explore how architecture and technology come together to create better homes—from early design thinking through to the finished living experience. Plus experience the ultimate in home entertainment in our state-of-the-art SMARTcinema demo room.
Drop in throughout the day from 10am-4pm for live demos of:
- Cinema rooms and high-performance audio systems
- Outdoor living tech including TV and entertainment
- Golf simulator technology, usable both indoor and out
- Luxury automotive showcase from Lamborghini Pangbourne

CPD PRESENTATIONS learning objectives
Designing the Connected Home CPD—RIBA and BIID accredited [11am]
- In all cases getting the right wiring infrastructure in place is key. The most expensive mistake you can make is not putting infrastructure in at the beginning of a project.
- The network is the backbone of any technology installation. Most of a home’s devices are connected and communicate via the network. Having a secure and faithful network is the most important part of any project when installing technology.
- Ten years ago, most households only had a couple of wireless devices, however that is certainly not the case nowadays.
- Using Cyberhomes to help with the design, system choice, integration, and automation of a home’s system allows the spaces you design to be enjoyed without having to compromise on aesthetics.

BluPrint Homes is a streamlined, architect-led design service developed by Palmer + Partners. Our portfolio of pre-designed homes provides a flexible starting point that can be adapted to suit individual sites and requirements, reducing design time, lowering costs and providing a more efficient route from concept through to construction.
Introduction to Integrated Lighting Design CPD—RIBA and BIID accredited [1pm]
- Lighting can have health benefits; light therapy for Seasonal Affective Disorder, helps with sleep patterns.
- Four types of lighting; Task, Ambient, Decorative and Accent lighting. The right lighting in the right setting can make the biggest difference to the client.
- The ideal time to begin the lighting design is as part of the client needs assessment, to explain the conceptual differences versus traditional lighting.
- When specifying Light Fixtures, consideration of the latest Part L. A minimum of 75 lamp lumens per circuit-watt should be achieved throughout the project.
- At the design stage special consideration for disability users, positions/heights of control switches, will there be handheld devices to aid disability clients? The lead designer should reference Part M Access to and use of buildings Volumes 1 and 2. The National House Building Council (NHBC) has standards for how many sockets and switches should be provided per room.
